I have a 71' crewcab 2wd that the steering doesn't return back.
It isn't pulling; it just doesn't return either when making a corner or driving 40 mph and turning it slightly. It just keeps going in the direction I turn it.
- I checked the toe-in and it is correct. (3/32)
- The passanger side camber is 1 degree and the drivers side is 2 degree.
(1/2 to 2 1/2) (1 preferred.)
- The passenger side caster is 1/2 degree and the drivers side is 3 degree.
(1/2 to 5 1/2) (3 preferred.)
I have put new kingpins in and they where not too tight after install.
If someone could enlighten me on the theory of caster as to what will more caster do and what will less caster do.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Found the problem. I had the definition of positive and negative caster backwards.
Positive caster is the top of the king pin towards the rear. I now have them towards the front. Which turns out OK, because I have done the I-beam flip and had to make brackets to lower the back of the radius arms. Now I hope to just shim them further down.
I have the same issue with my '82 F250 2WD. Is this just an allignment issue?
Yes it is. Might be just a toe problem but could be a caster problem.
As it turns out; I am going to swap the I-beams aaaaggggaaaaiiiinnnn rather than dropping the radius arms alot.
Hopefully have it all put back by this weekend and tighten her up to get her back on the road.
How hard is it to turn your wheel? Also, when you turn left to full lock how many turns is it? Compare this number with how many turns to the right to full lock.
