-switched at 10,000 miles
-5000 between changes, I don't tow or carry much load in the bed
-CI 4+ oil, using Rotella 5W-40, by my math increase in mileage pays for increased cost of oil
-Racor/Motorcraft, wouldn't use anything else
Switched to full synthetic at about 6K miles. Use Amsoil Heavy Duty Diesel Series 3000 oil. Just sent my first sample in to the lab (CTI in Cleveland) for analysis. I have about 12K miles on the oil of my '06 PSD. Analysis will tell me whether to extend this interval further, or maybe reduce it. It establishes a beseline and gives one warranty coverage from the oil manufacturer, in addition to Ford's own. My gas vehicles average about 80K miles between oil changes, but diesels are sometimes dirtier. I often tow excavators cross country, am usually exceeding manufacturer weight ratings, but have had much confidence in Amsoil's products. Don't try that with non-synthetics. I started using this particular brand in 1986, in my drag racing vehicles, and eventually switched over in my peronal, as well as business vehicles. Sometimes, when I couldn't find Amsoil, I've used Mobil 1, or Royal Purple. There is also RedLine and numerous others.
Some folks on this forum will get very angry if you do not come to the same conclusion as they, which is that only factory drain intervals are safe, and then only in conjunction with API rated oils. I let science make my decision, not fear or emotion. Good luck jgc2521.
-when did you switch to syntetic....10K miles
-how often between change..........5K miles
-what brand spec etc oil...............Mobil T&S but, no longer available
-brand of filter............................Motorcraft all the way
For all posters here. Let's not slip into the temptation to have an oil debate. Of any kind.
-when did you switch to syntetic....2.5K miles
-how often between change..........5K miles
-what brand spec etc oil...............Mobil Delvac 1, 5W-40
-brand of filter............................Racor in the Fram box - the cheapest way to get the OEM filter, I've found.
Based on what a recent blackstone labs report mentioned about my oil's viscosity, I have no intention of running any oil in this motor beyond 5,000 miles.
- when, 2.5K
- how often, 5K
- brand, Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W40 full synthetic (no longer available... now Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck)

tvsjr, where did you pick up your Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck? I want to use it but, haven't located it yet. None on the shelves yet at my local Walmart and AutoZone.

I haven't picked any up yet... still got one OC of M1T&S on the shelf. Although, my oil change shop (Kwik Kar in Terrell) has some, and I believe I've seen it in the Walmart...

Thanks for the heads up tvsjr. I may be in Terrell some time over the next 10 days (looking for a new trailer for my souped up golf cart before Memorial Day weekend). Will stop by your Walmart if I don't find it around Rowlett / Garland area.
