Question grunt starting

Hi all, I have a question. I have a ford F-350 PSD 7.3 crewcab lariat. for the last 2 weeks i have noticed that when i start the truck for thew first time say after a long setting the truck grunts to turn the motor over at first. Sorta like a dead battery. It does start though. After i run it say to work it will start fine. Do you think maybe the batteries are not holding charge anymore? or one maybe isnt? They are the original batteries (2002) in the truck. maybe some ideas on this. Thanks Jeff

Batteries

My guess is @ 4yrs old - it's one or both batteries. I'd replace the pair.

My stock batteries on my 99 are still going strong after 7 years.. Do you have a site glass on top of the battery? It should show green in color if the battery is OK.. Or just pull them and have them check'd..

Wow, 7 years on batteries. I'm impressed. You must start it about once a month. 4 years is about it for the life span of batteries especially if you are doing much cold weather driving. Wow 7 years, I wouldn't hold my breath.
