starter relay

The new starter relay I recently bought at Autozone for my 1978 F-150 is slightly different from the relay on the truck. The two male pins onto which the feeder lines are pushed are the same size but on the original one male is smaller than the other. The females on the wires are also of different sizes, to match. I would prefer not to splice a new female onto one of the feeder wires. Is it possible to get new starter relays with different size pins or are all the replacement starter relays the same?

Do not know. Try a different store and see what happens. If push comes to shove, you can put a ring connector on the end with a small nut on the threads.

This is the kind of thing I only allow to happen once. If I have to go back to the same parts house again (for ANYTHING!) I always bring the original part with me, and compare it before I leave the store.

The name of the game is selling/buying the RIGHT parts. You should not have to modify anything in order to install a replacement for that.

Starter relays are a dime a dozen...
