miss? i think

my problem is that when i am driving between 40 and 50 miles per hour, its like the truck loses power. not really a miss as much as its like the truck is stuck in 6th gear even though it doesnt have one. i can get it to run like it should but i have to constantly floor it and back off. im used to it now but its still a problem that could lead to other problems.

the truck is a 94 150 2wd with a 5.0 in it. it has 215xxx miles on it and it is throwing a code but i have no way of getting that checked that isnt gonna cost me whatever the dealership would charge.

thanks in advance for the help guys.

First thing is to pull that code and find out what's wrong. The computer is most likely telling you what the problem is. You can pull them yourself for free with a paperclip. Check www.fordfuelinjection.com for directions.

Second, when was the last complete tune up? Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, PCV valve, fuel filter...

plugs, wires and filters were just changed. ill check out the paperclip thing. ive been doing that on my hondas forever. ill also check the timing. this truck belonged to my dad since 97 and it was very poorly maintained. im doing my best to get it back to the way it should be.
