rear ac

Hi everyone! I have a 2000 E350 15 seater, We love it and it gets lots of use with 8 of our 10 kids that still live at home. The problem we have is the
rear ac stopped blowing cold air, in fact the vents don't blow at all.
It's like the heater is turned on when we turn on the ac, but it still
pumps out very cold ac in the front! I'm a little miffed by this and
think it may be a fuse but wondered if anyone else has had such a
problem. I don't really want to spend a $1000 getting the ac fixed....
Thanks for any input,
Justin

My '92 broke the same way. I haven't looked into it yet but I am told there is a damper door that breaks. I need to remove the panel and look

Thumbs up Check for a broken damper door

I had the same problem with my 96. It was the damper door in the back. I removed the trim panel, and the electric blower. I positioned the door to blow over the cooling coils, since I live in Virginia and the winter isn't too bad. Then put it back together. Not too hard, and the A/C works fine now. I found another thread at the time with more details. Good luck.

Thanks for the help Dan, I'm going to have to look at it this weekend and hopefully find the same solution. I'll post what I find. By the way, where is the thread w/more info?

Sorry, it was over a year ago and I didn't save a link to it. I just searched and eventually stumbled upon it. Good luck.

On one of my older vans, the water control valve to the rear heater went bad, and let hot water run all the time, overpowering the cool air from the rear unit. Not sure if your van has the same set-up.

The valve was located in the heater hose on the driver's side of the engine, about under where your feet rest on the floor. Maybe the vacuum line to it is bad. I removed the dog house to get to it, but can be reached from underneath also.
