My Dad just bought a 99 ext. cab F350 4x4 7.3, on the rear of the frame in the rear wheel well area on each side there are grounding straps bolted around the frame, one on each side of the truck. Why or what are they there for and was this a factory thing? They look like a negative battery cable.
Also on the 99's do the mirrors not move in and out?
Thanks for the help
My truck has the same straps. They go through a hole in a brace on the bed and bolt to each side of the frame. I'm thinking they are a safety device like a safety chain on a trailer. They are from the factory and quite heavy cable. Rubber coated all but the ends bolted to the frame so they can't act as a ground.
My mirrors are electric adjust but do not telescope in & out only fold back.

Bought my 99.5 truck brand new and they did not come with this item. After about a year of ownership there was a factory recall on certain models as they found out the bed of the truck would seperate from the frame under certain accident scenarios. The recall was mandated as a safety issue to keep the bed from departing from the frame in the event of above mentioned accident. This was not a 'TSB' it was an actual Ford recall. My truck is an F250 4X4 Crew Cab w/ the short bed. 156" wheelbase
