I sincerely hope this thread will continue for a while with warnings about AutoZone and other "auto parts" stores. So here it goes
May 10, 2006 - AutoZone does NOT carry Motorcraft Spark Plugs for the 1997 5.4L V8 - I live in the Chicago area and they said that their warehouses do not stock the Motorcraft Plugs for the 1997 5.4 anymore. Is this a local problem or are AutoZones nationwide discontinuing the stock of these plugs? Went to the dealer and got the set of 8 for $46.00 (U.S.) even. Part# AGSF-22FSM
They don't sell motorcraft (which I would rather have) for my 4.2L 98 6 cyl either. Salesman was also surprised that I had different plugs installed on each side of engine.
I put autolite AP5144 (plat) in mine and truck fired up fine.
lol man in between autozone and discount autoparts i believe autozone is best....
Well, maybe I did jump the gun on that comment, but the AutoZones' in my area are run by morons... same with Pep Boys... They always take you for being an idiot, and try to sell you crap like the Bosch +4's. they say, "They are the best plug for the money, and the performance is great." Then I think to myself... Where is the little note that says to employees, "sell the customer crap (they wont know)"
I don't trust Autozone or any of the other chain type of parts stores for anything anymore. NAPA is good but they are about the only chain that I trust any more. For sparkplugs for my truck I will go to a local mom and pop store that I used when I was a kid. The guy that owns the shop has raced Fords for years.
