Will not start

I just bought a 1997 f150 xlt. I was putting a cd player. First, I disconnected the negative terminal on my battery to prevent any short circuits. I removed the old radio and saw that I would need a different mounting kit to make the cd player fit. I did not make any connections with the new cd player. I reconnected the radio and reconnected the battery terminal. When I turned the ignition nothing happened. The dash lit up and the radio came on. I tested the battery and it was at full charge. I checked the fuses and they seemed to be ok. When I turn the key there is no sound at all. No turnover...no clicking...nothing. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
