The seat heaters on my 2005 F250 seem to turn on whenever they want to. It can be a warm day and I get in the truck, head down the road and notice my seat getting warm. When I look down the lighted button is on and I have to turn it off. Anyone else have seat heaters that turn on erratically?
I had a 2001 F250 with seat heaters and never had a problem. They turned on when I turned them on. I took the 2005 to the dealer and of course they knew nothing about it and couldn't get them to act up while they had it in the shop.
Are you sure that you are not inadvertantly hitting the switch getting in or out of the truck?? The switch is not recessed as much as it needs to be. Both the wife and I have done it on occasion, causing the seats to get warm. It's ok in the winter but not in the summer!
I have thought about that. One reason I know that is not the case is that sometimes it comes on when I start the truck without even getting in. Or it sometimes comes on after I have started the truck while already seated inside the cab. The switch doesn't work unless the ignition is turned on. In other words, it doesn't matter if you push the switch while the truck is off.
I just bought a new 06 f-350 trading in my old 03 f-250 and I have had the same problem with the driver seat and the passenger seat both heating up without pushing the heater buttom. I will contact Ford next week for a resolution, kind of upsetting when it is 85 degrees outside. Spud
If your dealer has any ideas please let me know. My dealer didn't seem too concerned. He said he would keep his "ears open" for others reporting the same problem. I figured they might at least report my symptoms to some data base at Ford.
I have an 05 and with same problem, i though it was me also, but it does come on by it self. I just dropped my truck off yesterday 9/1/06 for blown head gasket, asked the dealer to check in to the seat heater, which I really don't need in houston, texas
Let us know what they find with the heater, mine still does it but only very rarely but still annoying if done on a hot day. Do you have a know cause of the head gasket problem, do you run a chip? Thanks, Spud.
No word on seat heater or head gasket yet!
And no I do not have chip or any other add on.
