Air Conditioning question

Im about to head into my third summer with out an air conditioner in my 87 f 150 with a 5.0. Im 18 and about to head to college without my truck so i dont want to spend more than is needed but i do want to be comfortable. The air conditioner has not work in 4 or 5 years at least, i do not know where to start.
please help

what isn't working...air coming out isn't cold? fans don't run? gotta give us more than "it doesn't work."

it could be anything really. it could be a dead compressor to a simple recharge.

the blower works but cold air does not come out i usually get outside air to come in. . . ha its better than nothing i guess.

Since your system should be completely empty, I recommend the $35 R134 recharge kit from Interdynamics that is available from any parts houses. Khanty, no disrespect intended, but I know you are about to jump in here. I know you say there is a better product, but it slipped my mind. Get this guy on the right track. What is your recommendation versus the R134.

I have the same problem with my truck, ( 90 f150 5.0 ) the blower works fine, but no cold air. Can i simply have it recharged, if there is no leaks of course? And how would i go about using that R134 kit from the parts store?
