When I did mine all I did was clean up the old rust and stuff and I have a giant supply of fiberglass and resin and did it that way. Other ways to do it if you dont want to do fiberglass is to get some sheet metel, well strong enough to work when your stepping on it and put down and maybe weld in place.
I sawzalled the old out, riveted/screwed the new in. Be sure and treat the metal with rust converter under there whatever you do. Then I seamsealed the joints, and rubberized the underside. Nice and smooth!! I bought some floor pans from BlueOvalParts.com $90 shipped.

How well has the fiberglass held up? I've been thinking about doing that to mine, but was'nt too sure how well it would hold up to my weight, tools being thrown onto it, etc.
I hear you can "frame" the fiberglass with some fine stiff SS mesh stuff they sell at body shops for bondo. If you frame it up, its definitely sturdy.
But the smell would cause me to take different approach!
Its pretty darn sturdy, when my Father finished it he took a hammer and beat the crap out ofthe floor and it did nothing. This was done about 8 years ago and its still going strong, just be sure to clean up the metel before you do it or the glass will not stick it will pop up.
