Powerservice & Stanadyne are the two most popluar and engineered in my opinion. I am sure nothing wrong with Lucas, but does it have cetane improver... or just cleaners and lubricatnts? The other two brands have all that you, or your truck, will ever need.
I have used both Powerservice & Stanadyne, right now using the Stanadyne mixed with Ford's Cetane Booster. This is the first tank with it mixed, will see how it works out.
Power service grey botle. Used to use Stanadyne but got tired of having to order it. A local fuel injection shop has it but it is in 16oz. bottles and is kind of pricey. I am going to try Shaeffers stuff next week.
35w,
Are you useing both of them at the recommended amounts or offsetting them? Have you noticed any differences in starting/takeoff/noise?
I was thinking about going to the Ford stuff but they only offer the Boost or the anti-gel. Currently running the White. they had it on sale at Wallyworld, but want to shift over the the Grey bottle.
I just started using powerservice, this is my second tank with it and I noticed my starts are easier and the motor is a little quieter. So far I like the results.Joe
j_lauer, I am using both at mfg recommendations. Seems the engine runs a little better
and the noise level seems lower. The starting seems about the same. Only have a 150
miles on this first tank so may be a little early.
I use the Stanadyne Performance Formula to make up for the lack of quality #2 available on the West Coast, my truck runs smooth at idle, never had an injector issue, lights right up cold or hot (30-105 degrees), very little smoke even with tuning galore, and runs hard. I very recently had the cab off my truck for headgaskets, and while it was apart started poking around for the satisfaction of my curiosity. The EGR valve was black from exhaust, but had zero carbon build up. When the heads came off, the intake, tops of pistons and valve stems were perfect, zero carbon. I realize this a very non-scientific observation, but have seen many trucks apart for headgaskets in the 14-75k range that looked like a coal factory had left its mark inside the engine.
