Lifters question
Lifters question
I will start a separate post since I seemed to be having a problem with getting peoples attention in a related thread
is there such a thing as upgrading your lifters for performance? can i put different lifters that would make a difference. also, are lifters something you can change out as a maintenance part? i mean, can i put new lifters and expect any kind of change whatsoever? mine are starting to get noisy and i was just curious
what is involved in changing these out and its relatec components.do i just put some fluid in the crank case that says it will quiet them down instead?
are these wear and tear type of parts?

What year is your truck? They wouldn't wear out if they were roller lifters. If they're ticking the cam lobes could be worn and will need replaced. You really don't see any difference from new lifters.
hey i would just run some lucas addative stay alive stuff, that's what I did, get an exact reading on your oil pressure, that will give you an idea of where you would want to go with it..
yes you can "upgrade" your lifters but i wouldn't upgrade I would just replace, call comp cams, they have a very mild street cam I don't remember the grind number and get the cam and lifters, it's about 200 all together, then if you want get a valve spring kit and some push rods, somewhere in the realm of another 150 or so buck and you will have a very very durable valve train possibly rev a little higher too.
