Super Duty Perspective
been surfing the site for a while now and finally thought I'd post. I'm in Australia and have been working on getting a super duty truck. Here in Australia Ford recently (early 2006) pretty much stopped the F250 series which was a custom truck made in Brazil. They had the 7.3 Powerstroke.
A company here converts USA trucks to Right hand drive. Recently went over and saw their work - a fantastic operation. Drove a 6.0PS F350 CC Lariat 4x4 with 5 speed auto. Very impressive considering what I had expected.
But my dilemma continues. The converted trucks are well above A$125,000 (USD97,500) for the Lariat and more like $140,000 (USD109,000) for the Harley Davidson. They're 2006 models. Question is of course with these being 2006 models and the ultra high cost whether I'm going to get hosed when the 2007 calendar year trucks arrive. I'm keen but the killer is they're auto only as the rh footwell can't take the clutch pedal etc in RHD. I simply LOVE manuals (how many Kenworths do you see with a torque convertor auto????)
We have a few good vehicles over here but I'd love to buy a HD F350 over there for $50k versus $109k here. Actually, if I was in the USA I'd just buy one of those F650 pickups!
Should I say I drive an aussie ute? Ford Falcon utes rule down here.
