distributor switch go wrong

duraspark ignition probs
i am switching out a distributor cluster fuuuuuuuu but have am not familiar with ford i have 83 f150 400 with some kind of computer ignition/carb thing going on i just want to install a normal electronic ignition but the repalcement distributor wont fit on to the oil pump rod Help

the oil pump rod on the 400 same as 351m hex style shaft that slides into the bottom of your distributor if you have the correct distributor for your 400 then turn the oil pump shaft slightly by turning the balancer just a little bit and it will fit in there i had a similar issue.also put a little permatex high tack gasket sealer in the bottom of your distributor and a little on the oil pump rod so they stay in place when you slide in the new distributor in the block.that should take care take care of your problem...later dude.....clay
