grounding the vehicle
chris
You can get a ground rod for $10 at home depot, get a ground rod clamp for $2 , and then a 6-8' piece of #8 or #6 copper wire. Just hammer the rod into the ground, then lug the other end into a SHINY piece of the frame. Wala!!
Of course there are other ways of grounding, but this is a true earth ground method. You could just tap into a grounded receptacle, but you want to be veddy veddy careful doing that. I am not suggesting you do that, but I would
Good luck!!

What you do is take an old extension cord, and cut off the socket on the end, and cut back/peel the insulation of the cord about 6", which exposes a white, a black, and a green wire.
What you do is is cut the black wire to 1", the white wire to 2", and strip off a little of the green insulation, and attach an alligator clip from radio shack to the bare end of the green wire.
Then wrap from the outer insulation (orange or green) to the alligator clip in electrical tape, and you have yourself a grounding system. Clip the alligator clip to the vehicle somewhere, and plug it the cord, and the alligator clip is now grounded via the third prong of the outlet.
that's what I do for things that need to be grounded.
