Howdy folks. I dug through my garage today (I decided to reframe it so that the cieling is 3-4 feet higher. Decided I needed clearance for an engine hoist, and I figured modifying the trusses would be easier than jacking the whole garage up!. Dont worry, carpentry is in my blood!)
Anyways, I came across 2 intake manifolds that I had forgot about, that were off an early 90's Mustang with the 5.0 HO. My question is, would these work on my 351 equipped 95 truck, and if so, would I gain anything? If it won't work on my 351, could I sell them to someone with a 302 in their truck? I'm just getting ideas on what to do with them. It looks like both of them were hot tanked because they are both as clean as a whistle, inside and out.
Thanks a bunch! I know this doesnt totally pertain to trucks, but it kinda does, so thats why I put it here!
they will fit the 5.0L trucks, though generally speaking mustang guys want the truck intakes because they flow a hair better and provide more low-end torque since trucks are heavier than 'stangs and need more low-end to get rolling, especially with a load in the bed or hitched out back.
It can be made to fit the 351, but you need to buy, or make spacers. Again, I dont think it's going to provide you much other than some expense and aggrevation, if you already have a 351W truck engine with a truck intake.
Me, I'd sell them on ebay. Though, I tried to unload a 5.0L EFI intake (complete lower/upper set) and got zero bids, and after it didn't sell, some guy emailed me and said he'd take it off my hands for the cost of shipping. Um, no.
This probably happened because many of the 'stang guys sell their stock intakes after replacing them with something "neat" from the aftermarket.
I didn't think it would have helped me out any. I just came across them and thought "what the hell do I do with these!?" Now they're sitting on the couch in my garage and I'm clueless on what to do with them. Maybe if I hold on to them for another 30 years, and someone wants to make an early-mid 90's stock again, I'll sell them to a fella for a ton of money!.... But that probably won't happen!
Thanks for the quick response! Maybe I'll put them on my Ranger... haha.
Haha that is true! I'll worry about those later. I'm in "remodel my garage" mode as we speak. I've already taken out the bottom part of one truss to allow for more cieling height. Don't worry though, she's braced up real nice! When I cut the bottom part of the truss out, the top moved maybe an 1/8 of an inch, if that. But thats way off topic!
