1999 F-350, 5.4 engine, auto, I plug in a brand new code reader under dash and get no reading , no light up, no nuttin' .. Tried the same reader in '03 F-150, 5.4 , auto.etc.etc.and it works fine Any ideas as to why no power to 16 pin obdII connector (checked all the fuses i could find)
all the fuses?
under the dash and hood .only time i had that problem was a loose of power .a blown fuse. bad wire.
recheck fuses under dash 15,19,30.under hood 5 and 7 . if you need a owners manual go into motorcraft.com and under owners guides down load your year ' newest edition.number 4- pages 145 on to end of chapter for fuse locations
Check for a bent pin on the DLC. Also connector 1049. If you have 12v at the cig lighter then its making it that far.
Pins 4 and 5 are grounds make sure they are good.
Does that truck use the CAN codes? My 2005 Superduty uses CAN codes and my OBDII reader would not work with it until I upgraded the software in the reader.
