I can get a running "supposed" 390, with edel valve covers, edel performer intake and a 1 month old 750 edel carb for $250. It has a C8AE-H heads. What can you tell me about these heads? I'm gonna go look at tonight.
Also, was gonna double check stroke before I buy. What are strokes of 360 and 390? I don't want him to try an pass off a 360 as 390. Also, where would the casting numbe be on the block?
the heads are just like the D2TE-AA heads but without hardend valve seats. small ports 72-73cc chambers. a 390 stroke is 3.78 and a 360 stroke is 3.5. the casting number will be on the passenger side of the block towards the front about where the block becomes vertical.
OK, so I went over and heard the motor run and it sounded pretty healthy and sounded like it was breathing good. Gave the guy $100 to hold it. Gave me the carb for colateral.(Carb is brand new. It's a 725, not 750 edel) Gonna go pick rest up after work today. He's giving me the 4core radiator, starter motor with 2wd headers and the bellhosuing/clutch. Apparently, the guy that bought 4 speed, didn't need bellhousing. I don't need either, so if anyone looking for bellhosuing, let me know.
Plan is to pull the motor out of my 75 hi-boy and put back in 70 2wd sport custom, for which I bought for motor at the time. Put the headers on '70 and sell the truck. Clean up new 390 and put in '75.
Got a co-worker wanting the carb and he's got a mid 80's 600 holley that he'll rebuild for me. He's a chivy guy and want's this for his 66 chivelle with 396.
