Help! My 01 Has no power to the brake controller wire (blue one at trailer plug) I chased the wire and found no power to then plug for the electronic controller under the dash. Which leads me to assume thier is a missing fuse/relay. My problem is I dont have an owners manual. does anyone know if thier is such a fuse/relay, and where it might be located? Or maybe You might have had a similar problem and can lead me to the right place. Thanks!
This is the wire that supplies power to your brake lights for the back of the truck and your trailer ? If so...are your truck brake lights working ? I would just run a wire into the brake wire on the tail lights. Give me some more info so I can find exactly what u want in my manual.
The brake light switch is located near the upper end of the brake pedal, where it's attached to the pedal pin and to the power brake booster pushrod.
Check:
1. The brake light switch illuminates the rear brake lights when the brake pedal is applied. Ford refers to the brake light switch as the brake on-off (or BOO) switch because it also functions as a digital information switch for the powertrain control module. The switch is located at the upper end of the brake pedal, at the connection between the pedal pin and the power brake booster pushrod. You'll need to remove the trim panel beneath the steering column to get to the switch and connector.
2. If the brake lights are inoperative, check the fuse first.
3. If the fuse is good, check for voltage to the switch on the feed wire. If no voltage is present, repair the wire between the switch and the fuse box.
4 If voltage is present, depress the brake pedal and check for voltage at the output wire terminal. If no voltage is present, replace the switch.
5. If voltage is present, check for power on the brake light wires at the tail light housings (w/ the brake pedal depressed). If voltage is not present, repair the circuit between the switch and the brake lights.
6 If voltage is present, check for a bad ground; using a jumper sire connected to a good ground, probe the ground wire ternnal at the tail light connector. If the brake lights go on, repair the ground circuit (follow the ground wire from the tail light housing).
7. Keep in mind that the brake light bulbs could be burned out, but the likelihood of all the bulbs being burned out is very slim.
Replacement:
8. Remove the trim panel below the steering column.
9. Unplug the electrical connector from the switch.
10. Remove the retaining pin.
11. Disengage tthe brake light switch from the master cylinder pushrod and from the pin on the brake pedal. Note how the nylon washers are installed; be sure to install them the same way.
12. Installation is the reverse of removal.
you have to put 2 fuses in the under hood fuse box (locations 28 and 16, 30 amp maxi) and 2 relays in the small relay box next to the under hood fuse box. those items would have beed in a plastic bag in the glove box when the truck was new. they are not installed from the factory and if the truck has never had a controller in it, probably never where

Roger the 30a maxi-fuses, and the relays are FOAZ-14N089-A. If you don't have the pigtail for the controller, that's F85Z-14A348-A.
After searching the internet for a few hrs and NOT finding ANY helpful info for my issue, your post was a welcome site! Worked great to fix my "no brake lights" issue. I had tried the bulbs and fuses to no avail. Didn't realize my pu had a brake light switch until I read ur post.
