Cool Erractic shifting torqshift??

My torqshift has a very delayed reverse engagement, delayed drive, but not always. The 3-4 upshift will sometimes hit neutral for a few seconds then bang into 4th.

Here lately it doesn't seem to know what gear it is in sometimes, like I can manually put it in 1st yet it will remain in 3rd even at a dead stop.

It almost acts like an electrical problem.

the torqueshift has had an abundance of bad line pressure solenoids(supplier problem), if it kind of shudders when going into reverse and park, thats probably the problem

Are these solenoids easily replaced? How much do they cost?

Thanks

Brian

pull the pan and you can see all of them. you have to remove the valve body to change them though. if you arent familiar with trans operations, you might take it to a shop.

I can do a C-6 with no problem, if there isn't anymore to pulling the valve body on one of these I should be able to handle it.

How do you know for sure they are bad?

on the driver side of the trans close to the front of the pan, there is a pressure tap. it takes a 7/16 wrench to remove. you have to measure pressures at different gear selections. there is a set of specs on this. you need to get these specs to decide which solenoid is bad

ok, got tranny gauges now I need the specs.

Is that a standard or a metric pipe thread in the tranny?

I think its standard thread. At idle you need p & n---50psi r----100 d----70 3,2 & 1----80 psi

from personal experience your tranny is done and youll need a new one. Your clutches are smoked and your solenoids are contaminated with metal particles.

Industrial, I would be the first one to support that idea except, for the fact that sometimes it will behave completely normally.

It also sometime hits neutral when making a right hand turn.

the solenoids I have replaced when you do the pressure checks, there is a wild fluctuation in pressure readings. As far as going into neutral when turning right, dont turn right---YUK, YUK

Does it matter if the tranny is hot or cold to perform this check?

OK I did the check with the tranny cold.

My results were that P,N idle was <25psi

1,2,3,D,R all caused the gauge to fluctuate wildly like going from 0 to pegging out a 300psi gauge very rapidly.

Sometimes it would calm done and act normal
when it would I got
D idling 125psi-175psi
2 idling 93psi against the stall 225psi

Which soleniod do I start with? Or do I just replace them all?
