Taper seat plugs rely on friction to keep them in place. Some people put oil or anti-sieze on the plugs, and wonder why they loosen up over time. Sometime oil is there by accident; flows down from the rocker covers, or from the cylinders of a tired engine.

Next time, try wiping off the seat area of plug and head with solvent to remove oil, and torque the plugs properly.

The converse to your problem is people that have dry plug and head seats, but overtorque the plugs, and cannot remove them!
