Last night on my way home the od light started flashing and i noticed the trans was shifting a lot harder than normal. the trans has about 90k on it,it was recently serviced, and the fluid level is normal. I haven't checked the codes yet plan on doing that tonight. Just wanted some feed back on probable causes and where the computer port to check codes is located. I took a quick look for it but couldn't find it, But again it was just a quick look. Also, the speedo and tach are in perfect working order. I already thought of the tach sensor or vss unit. Thanks for the help in advance.
fipl? Not tryin to sound stupid, but what does that stand for? The trans codes are 29, insuficiant speed. and 49, 1-2 shift error. the speed sensor one might be old, but i'll replace if the code 49 isn't as serious as it sounds. Has anyone else had a code 49 come up? And if so what was the cause of this. I don't want to but will replace trans, or if i get mad enough i'll trade it in on something newer. don't really want a payment though.
FIPL (fuel injection positioning lever) VSS (speed sensor, located in the diff.) Check previous threads for the diagnostics, if you can not find will post. If your tac is out - any needle bounce - or fluctuation look at the sensor (next to the oil filler). Check the "plug" on the pass side of the trans.
What is the setting supposed to be? and do i check it with a regular like multimeter?
Also so some good news, with limited tools (1 cresent wrench) i pulled the drain plug and drained about 6 qts. all clear so far, no shrapnel yet. Please let this be my one lucky break. I haven't had good luck in years.
well thanks for the help, but it's all in vain. the pan came off and i'm seriously screwed. there's a lot of metal and brass colored material in there. thanks again for all the help
