Since this is my first post here. Let me do a quick introduction. I have an '65 Ford F250 that my grandpa bought new. I bought it from him a few years ago. I love it.
Problem is, I have a son now and it's hard to fit him and my wife in the truck so I'm looking for something else. That's what brings me to this forum. I found an '84 Crewcab that the current owner says is an F150. I didn't think they made F150 Crewcabs back then but I'm sure not an expert on the subject either (I'm just going on memory but I thought they were all F350). Can anyone comfirm this for me? I haven't looked at it yet but I was going to this week. Is there a way I can look underneath it and tell whether it is an F150, F250 or F350? Thanks in advance for any help!
No crewcabs were made by Ford, but a company called Centurion did (and still does) extensively modify Fords. They were the makers of the 'four door Bronco' that is so rare these days. One of their mods was a 1/2 ton crewcab. I don't know what years they did it, though.
You can tell if it's a 1/2 ton or a 3/4 ton by counting the lugs on the wheels. If it's 8 lugs, it's a 3/4 or 1 ton chassis. There really isn't any difference at all between a 3/4 ton and a 1 ton.
Yea I always wondered why Ford never matched GM with a Suburban size vehicle.
Thats where the 4 door Bronco idea came from, but not Fords idea.
Tons of Suburbans were sold here in Texas back in the day.
Ford just watched em drive by.....goin to the bank!
I have seen F-250 crewcabs, but they were all 2wd. All the 4wd CC's I have seen were F-350's. Maybe someone put a CC on a F-150 frame. I have seen stranger things before.
