Does anyone know what/ can we change to make our trucks run well on Ethanol? I have been considering making a still, but whenever they talk about converting trucks it's only for the newwer ones.
Nothing, if you are talking E85 or what they are producing now. If you mean straight ethonal, you need a bunch bigger jets and metering passages and to crank the timing up about double as it takes alot of alcohol and it burns real slow and cool compared to gas.
For E85 up your compression to 12:1, get new larger stainless fuel lines, and PTFE lined rubber lines. Increase your fuel pump capacity 25%. Get rid of the carb and go to EFI to avoid aluminum carb corrosion problems. The carb can be modified with 27% larger jets but corrosion problems will persist especially with homemade E85 which is usually heavily laced with water.
