I have 2 1965 ford trucks. One is an F250, the other an F100. The F100 doesn't seem to be starting, it was clicking etc. That's a long story, but, the shorter story that I need help on is that I took the solenoid off of my F-250 to see if that was the problem and put it on the F-100 that didn't fix it. The problem is that when I put the solenoid back onto my F-250, it doesn't work. I don't get a click or any lights coming on or anything. What might I be missing?
Hi Ya Bryce, WELCOME to FTE & our "61-66 F Series Ford Truck" forum
You probably switched/crossed/ mixed up 2 small [14-16 gauge]wires which attach to face of solenoid case. Switch them around & try it again.
As for your "Long story", post some more details of the symptoms & we'll see if we can diagnose the problem further for ya'. Assuming the Battery has 12V and sufficient CCA [or cold cranking amperage] and the wires are all tight & good, of course.

another thing to try is the battery posts may be very corroded and not making contact, sometimes they look fine on the outside but the inside will be oxidized and not making contact. take them off and soak them in a solutin of baking soda and water to neutralise the acid and then clean them with a battery post brush,
Don't forget that a negative battery cable secured to an engine block relys on a ground strap for a complete circuit. This is a wire braided flat metal strap usually found around the transmission and bolts to the frame. This can cause a lot of problems.
