oil pan gasket leak

When I was installing my guages and was under the truck I noticed oil leak from around the pan . Do I have to get that gasket at the dealer or can I get it somewhere else all the auto parts stores didnt have it. Also how much of a job is it to change someone told me you have to lift the motor? is that the case? Thanks for the help

I know that the motor has to be pulled to replace the oil pan, but not sure if you could undo a couple mounts and rock it up a little just to get the pan loose... Personally, I wouldn't even bother with trying to fit a regular gasket in there. You'd have to cut it to fit it up, unless you took the whole pan completely off. I'd find some good, high temp RTV and use that instead. I think I've used RTV on virtually every kind of joint by now, and as long as you follow directions, I've never had one leak.

This may not be just the gasket, 7.3's have an issue with pan integrity. I had to have my pan replaced at 37,000 miles. Covered by 100K PSD warranty by Ford dealer minus $100 deductible.

Yeah... There's no gasket available for the differential covers either.
