Sounds like the fuel is shut off to engine.

I'd suspect the camshaft position sensor is done.

I'll be first then, welcome to FTE Big Sky. Yup, if it just quit outta nowhere and won't restart, likely the CPS. Lot of other things it could be like lack of fuel, GPR, GPs, not enough battery juice, but 9 outta ten times with your symptoms it's the old CPS.

One way to check cam sensor is to crank it over if the tach doesnt move then its the sensor,if does then it is something else.

Thanks to all that responded. It was the cam sensor. I will carry a spare with me. Especially on the way to Alaska. It could be a handy thing to have.

Thanks again to all

Yeah, they really don't fail all that often - but when they go, no engine.

Does SpringerPop still want dead CPS's? Just in case, don't toss it.

I've got a couple ahead of me to review, so hold off sending me any CPS's right now.

I still have my new one in the glove box. I've often thought of just changing it out to see if there's any difference. The truck runs great. A little hiccup or pulse once in a while. Who knows?

GeoffNj , I'd put the new one in to be sure it's the right one.
Then you would KNOW that you have a good spare.
Unless you have the factory FORD CPS.

That would be the CPS sending a "dirty" signal that the ECU has a hard time desciphering. Change the CPS.
