rear wiper arm misalignment?

i did a search for this topic and couldn't find any information...

my rear wiper arm has a tab on it that seats in a plastic holder that's attached to the liftgate (well i suppose they ALL do!) and the tab and the holder slot do not match up. i have noticed pretty much every expedition i have ever seen has this same issue.

it's not a big deal, but i was wondering why it is like that and it seems like ford never did fix/address the misalignment throughout the long production run.

i have an '01, so if it hadn't been fixed by then, they weren't gonna.

anyone else notice this?

SoCal-

I have noticed it too! I know exactly what you are talking about. My guess is that the Door Panel is made by Ford and the wiper arm is aoutsourced and guess what? Someone didn't catch the shortness in the wiper-arm-tab to resting-block measurement.

Yay American mass production! Demming had it right, "Is 2% Defective acceptable?"
