Alright, '93 2.3 2wd. I know this topic has been done before, but i just want to clarify a couple things before i go and attempt to fix this. My truck has a noticeable tilt to the driver's side. I've heard about a $30 (or so) shim that is placed in the leaf spring on the driver's side that evens out the truck. Here is the dilemma. The bed section of the truck leans somewhat, but not terrible. The cab section leans almost half an inch lower than the rear. I've heard that installing this shim does somehow bring the front of the truck back up to equality with the rear, but i just want to double check. There isn't anything else i will need to do, is there?
My bed and cab sat at different levels as well on the passenger side, it did fix it, everything's level now. I didn't do anything else, installed the shim and it worked fine.
Is it made from a polyeurathane or rubber compound? That's what the guy at the dealership told me, so I told him to hold on ordering it for now. He also told me like $32 with tax. Slightly higher than your $14, lol.
Is this shim the same thing as leaf spring inserts? I asked my dealer about the shim and they had no idea what i was talking about, but they told me they would order leaf spring inserts (which come in a pack of 8) for $4. I went ahead and ordered it and i'll try it out and i guess we'll go from there.
Well just thought I would let people know how the situation is on the truck now, a little FYI for those considering fixing a lean on their trucks. The leaf spring spacers I bought cannot correct the problem. I should have examined my truck more closely, I have found that the lean in the back is very slight (1/8"), which is no biggie because truck beds over time almost never sit completely straight. The lean was much more pronounced in the front. A little investigating and I saw that the cab mounts on the driver's side of the truck were completely rusted through. I'll have to go get after market parts.
I should have thought of checking this early though, since I know someone whose Ranger about 5 years younger than mine ended up needing the cab mounts replaced as well. So for anyone out their noticing a lean to one side on the truck, check the cab mounts first.
