Clutch problem
Clutch problem
My clutch sometimes doesn't completely disengage. Around 15% of the time when I'm at a stop sign it's hard to get into gear and about 2% of the time I have to shut the engine off to get it into gear. The truck has always been a little hard shifting. The engagement point feels about perfect (a third off the floor).
The PO had replaced the clutch and slave cyl. (had done at a transmission shop) to fix the problem with no love. I just replaced the clutch master cyl. with no love. Pumping the clutch doesn't help.
I have a 92 F150 4x4 with an I6 and 5 spd with 90k.
I would appreciate any ideas!

Does the truck creep when it's in first gear, with the clutch pressed, at a stop light?
Do you have problem shifting at other times, ie 2nd to 3rd, or downshifting from 2nd to first?

On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being easy) I would say the difficulty of shifting most of the time would be a 6. 30% of the time I would give it a 3.

I'll let you know what it was. My tranny went crunch/grind/freespin and it's all coming apart and going back together this weak.

so far, this is what i am suspecting because i know the pressure plate should be disengaging it all the way
it makes sense when it does it when it is hot too...
so now what do i do... clutch in, tranny in gear, and just hold it at 5k for a few hours and hope i kinda loosen it? hahaa
My transfer case exploded inside. The truck is back together and the clutch was inspected and given a clean bill of health.
My clutch problem persists..
I'm going to bleed the system myself.. It really feels like air in the master.

Gravity bled today with the truck on my driveway (master pointing up) and it made no difference. What kind of weird bleed screw is that anyway?
I'll bleed it again when I can get an assistant to pump on top with me opening and closing the bleed nut.

Fixed! After bleeding the system with the truck on enough grade to have the master cylinder pointing up and and assistant pumping while I was on the ground releasing the bleed screw worked. I have love!

Worked for a day.. When I backed up my driveway (very steep) a air bubble in the master cylinder came back. I'm bringing it to a shop and having them pressure or vacuum bleed the damn thing.

Took the truck to a friend of mines shop and they went through four more flush cycles and it is 90 percent perfect.
I'm going to put a speed bleeder on the transmission and do it a few more times.
Part number SB7100S.

I have the same problem with my mod5 trans 4x4 I6 (87). I have tried the bleeding rout with little suceess. It is a frustrating problem with these hydrolic clutches.. Any one find a cure? The transmission has less than 15k mi on it. I do not think the shop put a new slave in when they installed it.. To replace the transmission has to be pulled $$.
