carb flooding when hot
my carb seems to be flooding the enging when it gets hot and sits engine off for 20 min or so. i've taken the water hoses off the base of it, the truck is usually at 190 when its turned off but that soon climbes to200-230. i have a new radiator on order. is a carb rebuild in order? or will the new radiator help keep things cool enough to where the carb won't get hot and flood the engine?

Did it help any when you took the hoses off of the spacer? Another radiator isn't going to help as there is no coolant circulation when the engine is turned off. That's why the temperature climbs when it is off.
Another thing is to make sure that your fuel line from the pump to the carb is metal and not rubber. Rubber traps heat and all that does is transfer to the fuel causing it to boil.

I had a carb that did the same thing even after rebuilding. I fixed it by putting on a adjustable fuel pressure regulator set a 3 lbs. I think some pumps may be a little high on pressurs and some fuel inlet valves may be a little wimpy.
