Today I bought a 6.0 intercooler with the intake pipes and manifold , My truck is a early 99, is there a way to use the 6.0 as in are they bigger, or would it be worth it to go with the hump hose kit.
I will also try to get a before and after on the EGT's pulling the stock trailer up hills around here, Will try before with a 3.5 downpipe, then do a run, then with a 6.0 intercooler. I already have a 4 inch exhaust with the 6637 mod.
no, the pipes from the intercooler are bass-ackwards compared to the 7.3. the compressor outlet is towards the passenger side, so the hot side pipe is on the passenger side and the "cool" side is on the driver's side, completely opposite from the 7.3. aside from the fact of the flow direction, the bends of the pipes are ALOT different. there is a kit from Pure Diesel Performance (previously BCDP) that uses (i believe) bigger pipes and stronger boots. jtharvey has the kit, and here is the link to the thing.
what is the easiest way to install the intercooler, can you unbolt that piece that goes over the intercooler or do you have to pull the radiator, or front end off.
Ask JTharvey as he has done this already and probably has some good tips. I believe he has pics in his gallery already for this and it was a tight fit but did bolt right up (with the new hoses) I think the only hose you actually need is this one: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/air scoll down and they have one listed for $28.50 part number 0H104. It goes from the 3" stock tube connection to the 3.25" intercooler connection.
