Rim offset

Rim offset
Anyone know how to figure out rim offset? I have found a few sites that explain it, but would like if someone could doublecheck my answer for me! Width of the rim is 8.5, backspace is 6 inches (150 mm), and the wheel center line Im not quite sure how to measure, anyone have any ideas?

Lay a straightedge across both the front and rear surfaces of the rim, and measure to the center or hub area, and the difference will be either your negative or positive offset. Consider that if the measurements are the same, and the hub area is in the center of the rim, you have 0 offset.-Pete

The inside surface of the hub is the mating face.
To find it's depth - lay a straightedge from rim to rim on that side and measure from the center of it to the mating surface.
The above RE: rim width compared to the mating surface measurement tells you if you are centered or not.
