OK....now I am stumped. I installed my system in my 95 F350 PSD crew cab. (Sony deck, fusion component speakers in front Cliff Design 6X9's in back with audiopipe 4ch amp, JBL sub with kenwood amp ) everything worked for over a week and now all of a sudden my audiopipe amp is blowing fuses...at the power distribution block....and at the amp itself....I guess those might of blown first(20amp vs 30amps at the block)....what could be going on? Amps are mounted behind the bench seat in the back...not touching any metal, ground is or was good last I checked....and my Kenwood amp still works....what could be causing it too short out?
Any car audio gurus out there can think of anything....
Speakers are not blown as far as I know....they were working perfect when I shut off the truck last night....as far as short circuit protection....would that be the fuses on the amps...if so yes...and they blew too....where would the short circuit be? on the main power?....would improper ground cause those to short circuit and blow the fuses?....for it to blow I would of had to cross - with + somewhere right?....or something shiffted and touched.
Disconnect the speaker connections at the amplifer, and see if it still blows fuses. If it does, then one of the output stages is blown (shorted) in the amp.
Well....the worst that could happen....happened....tried what you guys suggested and my amp is blown....took it appart some some parts were charred beyond recognition.....and since it was not a high end amp (Audiopipe) I decided it's not worth it to get it repaired....
Now I'm looking for a 4 channel amp to push my Fusion 6.5" fronts and my Cliff Design 6 X 9's in back....any suggestions....I was thinking Rockford Fostgate or the likes...what do you guys think? maybe 50 or 75 Watts RMS....should be enough....still have my Sub and amp too....they still work....but other than thump thump...no sound
