My '90 F250 4X4 with the transmission problems (E4od) are getting worse, I just had a complete overhaul with a new HD torque converter, now the control computer is bad. Anyone now where to score a known good one or a new one cheep?
Yeap it sure would be nice to know where it is located at. It has been talked about on here and never really explaned as to where its located at. I know some say to switch to a banks trans command too. But, where the H is it???? Some of us are not super mecanhics when it comes to trucks. I am a Ag mecanhic myself trying to make the most of what I got. So, if someone could please expalin where this is located your help would be apperciated.
Thank you
Bob
1) the transmission shop tested it and all of the codes point tward the controler
2) mine is on the drivers side inner fender under the brake unit.
3) I have the BANKS trans comand it is a seporate module that changes the pressures in the valve body. still need the trans controler to shift the trans.
The symptoms are I only have Reverse, first and second gear. No third or over drive. New overhaul, very reputable private shop, all new parts all mods done.

From what I read the problem is most likely the in the trans with the either the solenoid pack or assy of the trans.
Make sure the FIPL is set right and speedo working. One question what size tires do you have on it. Please put up a signature with ALL the trucks info.....
If you replace the PCM and it still does not work right what will the trans shop do for you. There are a whole raft of tests they can do to isolate the problem......
All of the codes are chassis electrical the reason for the overhaul was that I took down the valve body to change a torn gasket and all of the little ***** and springs fell out. That is when I gave up, the previous owner never had any repairs done on the trans. so with 250,000 miles it probably was due for overhaul. I knew when I took it in that there was external electrical problems but after I had it apart and than run it in limp mode all of the codes were not accurate for the original problem.
I replaced the solenoid pack on my 91 F350 E4OD and don't remember there being any ***** or springs that I had to deal with.
I just removed the ten or so bolts that held the old pack, pulled it and installed the new pack. The circuit board on the old pack was damaged when the last owner had put a dent in the tranny oil pan.
I bought the truck in limp mode and changing the soldenoid pack brought all the shifting back to normal.
***** and springs are above the separator plate, I had to remove the valve body to change the gasket and when I did the separator plate fell and all of the ***** fell out.
