I have a 1995 F-350 dually 460 gas. It has been making cracking noise in the rear end when I turn left or right in forward or reverse.
In the front end also makes a popping noise once in a while.
I just did a tune up and my check engine light comes on now. The Ford dealership wants 75 bucks to give me a computer reading. Truck runs great so should I spend the money?
Really worried about the noise from the rear end though. The truck has been well cared for and not used really heavy. I pull a 3 horse trailer a couple times a year. It only has 145,000 miles on it.
Any ideas on the cracking noise?
go to www.fordfuelinjection.com. there is a process to check for codes yourself using a paperclip and some time. its actually very easy to do . I would jack the rear end up and pull the rear diff cover. i have a feeling that the spider gears for the LS are going out or chewin up. the popping up front could be some bushings. is this a 2wd or 4wd?
Its a two wheel drive. I just want to gain some knowledge before I take to a garage. I at least want the guys to think I might have a clue. Being a women and going to a garage is never easy or cheap.
