hesitation

I own a 1998 explorer the other day on the way home from work it seemed to lose acceleration power it would just spit and sputter so I pulled over and put it in park and reved the engine a little then I took off and it was fine I smelled an electrical smell when this happened. As far as the hessitation it only happened this one time but every once in a while I do smell the electrical. I looked under the hood and can't see any visible signs of anything burning or melting.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I'd start by pulling the codes just to see if they reveal anything. Are you sure it's an electrical smell, and not maybe oil burning off the exhaust system?
