I was wonderin if anybody ever ran 35's with the 4.2 v6 and how it affected the performance all around. I would probably have to re gear and if so what should I go with?
I have 35" tires on mine. Factory gears as far as I know and acceleration isnt the best once it gets out of first gear its sloowwww. Gas mileage isnt too great as well. I get about 220 miles a tank.
Im unsure. I bought the truck used from one of those "small off to the side of the road dealerships" which didnt have much info on it or any at that in the sense of what had been done to it. Although the spedo is pretty much right on. At first I was a bit concerned about it as I always seemed to be passing people yet going the speed limit, then I finally came upon one of the "speed readers" on the side of the road and checked out it w/ my speedo as I went by and it matched up.
that coudl be a big part of your crappy mileage....you know with the larger tires your speedo is showing you have traveled less miles than you actually have

Now that youve mentioned that im pretty sure it might have been recalibrated before I owned it. Could be wrong though. I frequently make trips between here and a town ~80mi away. I usually fill up a few miles before I hit the sign saying ____ X mi and when I get there the trip is pretty close. I also have about 200lbs of audio stuff in the back so im sure that adds to it :\. Not saying your wrong or anything. Just giving my experience w/ it as it is. Its a bit late to edit my other post but I also just moved from 8" to 10" wheels. I used to get very little tire rub. Now the tires rub so bad I can barley pulling into a parking spot.
