Regearing questions

I am thinking about regearing my 2000 superduty PSD. It has a 4" lift and I'm running 35s right now, I run 36's sometimes. I'm just wondering if I go from a 3.73 to a 4.30 will it make a difference in my fuel milage. I do tow a trailer of about 9000lbs. Most of the time it is my daily driver, though. So will it make a difference if I regear. Mind you that all that is done to the truck is a 4" exhaust and an intake. I plan on getting a chip sometime soon. Any experience with this? I would greatly appreciate it.

the 4.30 will give you about a 3.73 effective gear ratio so you will be back to stock.

So it is a good Idea? I'm just wondering if my milage will increase. I'm only getting around 14-16mpg right now.

I had the same setup with a V10. I didn't notice an increase in MPG during daily driving. There was an increase, maybe 1.5 MPG, while towing but it wasn't that noticeable. I live in a very mountainous area and MPG and towing don't mix well anyway. I'm sure the PSD will fare much better in the MPG category after a regear but I have no proof. What was really noticeable was a snappy throttle!
