need opinion

I am currently looking to upgrade my truck. i have a 2003 supercab F150. I am getting ready to buy either the 2006 F150 Screw Liarat or the Nissan Titan. I know this is a ford site, and i am a ford owner. But i don't know much about either of these trucks other then what the dealers are saying. does anyone have an opinion on which way i should go?

i tow, i haul, and am looking for a good dependable truck that will last.

Hello,

I've driven both trucks the F-150 at the dealership and the Titan was a colleaques. Anyway the Titan seemed to have good power ,but the truck itself seems really really cheap. It was a scab SB not sure of the gearing. I've also heard that Nissan has had problems with the rear axles an brakes on these truck not 100% sure though. The F-150 was also a scab SB XLT, with 3.73's tow package and 5.4 . It is a very very nice truck, very quiet and smooth, had decent power, I've heard the power gets better as it breaks in. Personally I think the new F-150's are very well built and I wouldn't buy a truck from a company that it's their first attempt at building a fullsize truck for the U.S, but thats just me. I would get the Ford. But it's your money drive em' both and see which one you like better.

I just bought the exact truck you are considering: 2006; SCrew; F150 Lariat; 5.4L, 3.73; 6.5' bed. My decision came down to past experience with Ford trucks (and I know this varies widely), which has always been good, and price (I was eligible for X-Plan pricing), which made the F150 a much better value. Consumer reports just came out with their Car/Truck reviews, and Edmunds.com has some good info. Basically the F150 only lacks in one area, and that is that it seems a little sluggish in acceleration - this is due to the comparable size of the vehicles. MPG for similar trucks all seem in the same range. I have to agree with Wagon - I did not like the fit and finish of the Nissan (I drove one just to compare when I bought my rig 6 weeks ago) - does not compare to the Lariat in my opinion. I love my 2006 F150 - quiet, plenty of power, Lariat Trim Package is everything I wanted - other than the gas mileage (which is a hot topic on other boards) there is nothing I would have done differently... OK other than maybe wait for the 2007 for the integrated Nav system, but my Garmin I can move to the wife's car when we decide we can't afford the gas to take my rig

I own an 05 Lariat S Crew and love this truck. I joke with my friends saying "this really isn't a truck, since it rides like a dream and has a very nice interior". Can't say I drove the Nissan either but the word on the street is that the Nissan truck is for the guy who doesn't really need a truck for hauling, working or other wise. It's more of a street truck that is quick more than anything else. Definately be aware of the rear ends since the earlier production modles has some serious issues for the guys who actually used the Nissan as a work truck.
