PowerStroke swap
Hello all,
Just an idea I've been pondering on. How about a PowerStroke Dsl. swap into a 60's or 70's truck. Can it be done? Just something I've been wondering. Give me your thoughts please.

all it takes is time,patience, and A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY! anything can be done if you want to bad enough. i must admit if you do it, you da man! i have tried some crazy stuff, but you take the cake! i say go for it. if you are going to do it , and i would think long and hard first, you will have to reenforce the frame, reenforce the suspension, and reenforce the drivetrain. a powerstroke only weighs about 1200 lbs. about triple a 390. u joints are huge for a pickup. driveshafts are about twice as thick. and then there is the rearend, my 97 has a sterling, gotta be super tuff. the automatic tranny is huge and is the weak link in a powerstroke truck. cost about 2500 to rebuild. 5 speeds are huge and tough, also about 1500-2000 for a used one. gonna get expensive real quick. but boy would it be nice! saw a 55 ford with a powerstroke in it once, looked real weird under the hood. little engine bay, great big motor. had a lot of mods just to get it in there. and it was on a 96 chassis.scary to say the least!
