I went to my favorite junkyard where I have gotten lots of parts for my truck over the years. It is a yard that has nothing newer than stuff from the late 7o's. He doesn't crush stuff. Trouble is it is here is Central PA, Rain, snow, humidity, etc and therefore rust.
I asked the old man that owns it if he has a jack for my truck. I showed him a picture of one and he says yeh, I got one somewhere down in the shed. We looked around for awhile and sure enough found one including the fold up handle. He said he wants "a couple of bucks". I bought another similar jack and gave him $5.
Problem: it is stuck. The jack is partially up. Do these jacks have 2 stages? two parts? I can get it to go up higher but I can't get it to go back down. Also, I can't get the inner part to go up, if it has 2 parts. He said to put brake fluid into it. I have and I think it helped, I also used liquid wrench. Any other suggestions?
There is a 2 stage to the jack. Don't waste your time on that jack. Those jacks are everywhere. It's identical to any F-100/250 up into the late 80's or a Ford Ranger, 83 and on. It even has the hole in the base for the wingnut stud. THe folding handle can still be bought thru Ford, part number 82Y 17081-B. Current Ford price is $34.85 .
