Well, I think I hit it big in the junkyard this weekend. I got an automatic power steering column, powersteering gearbox and pump w/ bracket (no signs of leaking) off a 71 Ranger (302 cid) and a whole frone end set up off a 75 Ranger (400 cid !!!). The front end has new brake pads and good rotors . I also got the whole tie rod mechanism off the 75. Will it fit my 72? I wasn't sure, but because I was at a U-Pull-It yard, it was virtually free. I got all of this stuff for $100 (cash of course). I still have to get the proportioning valve for the disc brake system. I forgot to get the one off the truck while I was there.
What a whipping I received trying to trace back the wires from the neutral safety switch on the column. The wiring harness appears to be tied in a knot from the factory with a puond of electrial tape holding it all together. I found it all though.
My plans are to put the disc brake configuration under a straight frame I have off a donor truck. I plan to power all of this with a FREE rebuilt 64 289 and C-4 tranny.:7
Any advice is welcome.
Later...
Chris
