A/C compressor mounting
I still can't find a/c brackets for my '73 390, so I'm going to have to try to make some. I've looked at several FE pickups and pics but still have one question - which way does the compressor mount? I've seen them both ways, with the hose connections up and hose connections to the drivers side. Which is correct? Which is better for the compressor? Is there a better compressor than the old York? Since I'll be fabbing, won't be much tougher to fab a whole different compressor, if it would be better. Any thoughts are welcome...

Those old tecumseh compressors are pretty reliable as i would stick with it. On my '73 f100 w/ 390 my compressor is going towards the drivers side with a slight upward slant to it. keeps it lower for access to other engine components so it's not stickin right up vertically in the air in the way.
the dealer installed units had the pumps straight up. ford used either ford pumps or york.
