I just bought a 1968 F-250 2wd. The truck is in fair condition but needs a few new things like fenders, seat, dash, ect... I found a 72' F-100 parts truck in the paper and was wondering if any of the parts are the same and would interchange. They look similar except for the grille of course. This is all new to me so any advice would be appreciated.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Jun-02 AT 11:19 PM (EST)]The fenders, the seat and the dash are the same for 68 to 72. The grill changed to an insert/shell type grill in 70. The inserts changed almost every year. 67-69 had a one piece grill/headlight/turn signal assembly. Also a 68 has rear side marker "reflectors" but a 72 has rear side marker "lights". There were other subtle changes in the 67-72 body style but most of the parts are interchangeable. Most junk yards have interchangeability manuals. Good luck on your truck. Post some pics of it when you get a chance. I would really like to see it.

You're in luck. Being in TX there are tons of these old trucks around and they last pretty good in our climate. Honestly, if you're willing to do the extra work, just drive around outside of FtWorth in the less urban areas and look for old trucks like that sitting up iin people's yards. Then just stop and ask if they'd like to sell it, you can find some great deals and even sell the extra parts to make the money back on the truck. Of course, some people won't sell for love or money, some want a fortune for nothing, and some might shoot first and ask questions later. So it's all up to you. If you have any specific parts you need right now I might have them pretty cheap. You can e-mail me at batman_josh(No Email Addresses In Posts!) if so. I'm about 3 hours from DFW. Good luck on the truck.
