Yeah i feel the same there ringo, but then again i'll cheer for any canadian team if they're in the running, as i want to see the cup back where it belongs .
Watching the game in high def on my plasma screen. CBC HD is finally broadcasting the game in wide screen. Not as good as being there... but it's close. Beer is cheaper too. It's been a long time coming. Go Oilers...
I was in Edmonton last weekend and got to see all the idiots on Whyte Ave. Damn that was a loud city that night. I could hear them in Sherwood Park. I told a co-worker that if the Oilers could beat Detroit, I would convert to an Oilers fan. (this from a long time Leafs fan). They have all been on me to change allegience since I moved here 2 years ago. Well not only did they beat Detroit, they are in the finals. Going for the Cup. Go Oilers Go! Now if I could just convince my boss to buy us all tickets.
I live in north east Edmonton & you can hear the noise all over town. It's to bad about the White Ave crowds turning so ugly. Its gotta suck to be a small business owner there, and have to camp in your store over night to protect you property.
Well it's getting easier to swallow the bitter bile of cheering the Oilers on now that they are the lone representatives of Canader, and I am certainly no stranger to cheering for a team where the goalie is everything. Hope they keep Rolly in a nice glass case when he is off the ice.
I think the way the fans react is quite representative of the two cities.
In Calgary, they send police out on the Red Mile to try and prevent girls from lifting their tops and showing everyone the goods. A terrible, terrible job.. poor cops. Beats writing jaywalking tickets I guess.
In Edmonton, they have to try and stop the roving packs of Neanderthals from destroying Whyte avenue, and burning it down. If I were a shop owner on Whyte Avenue, I'd be tempted to gather up several friends, and their friends, Messr's Remington and Winchester, to sit in the shop window cleaning our 12 gauges after a game.

What gets me where all the comments from Edmonton people in the Calgary Sun Newspaper about the couple of unfortunate circumstances on the red mile in 04 one of which was when a cop got injured.
They chatised Calgary People for these things yet there is near Riots and Tons of property damage in Edmonton with 30 % less of the crowd difference.
Where are the letters from these people who were so quick to judge Calgarian's with an Apology and admit that Edmontians are Far worse.
Byt the way, it really isn't FANS of Hockey that do this. It is people who have Mental problems (they go Brain Dead) that don't know the difference between right & wrong.
Here I am Near Red Deer and we just keeping looking out past out noses and are watching a Tennis game between the 2 cities.......heads go from North then to the South and back again
About 18 years I remember seeing a : Half Oiler/Half Flame Jersey.... for sale at a Sports wear store...I should have bought it
