Not certain how it is on your vehicle but I just had mine down and back-up. Very easy to adjust but I'm just not certain you won't need an alignment after.
But on my 98 Ranger, I simply followed the torsion bar to about mid-frame. That's to say they connect at the control arm and the frame. At the frame you'll see one bolt head sticking stright down at ya. It runs vertically. That bolt pushes a finger of sorts that in turn [turns] the torsion bar.
Anyone know if this requires alignment afterward? On my 74 Dart the set up was similar and it needed alignment post adjusting. But the Ranger seems to track real well. I'd just like to crank it down a bit. Ridin High!!!!
Go straight to an alignment shop after doing this. This procedure will chew your tires up fast. Be sure to read around the board about doing this; it really ruins the ride quality. If that doesn't matter, enjoy!
There isn't much ride quality on a ranger 4x4 anyway, I have had my 04 cranked for a year now, and I can't tell the difference in ride. It was stiff before, and it's stiff after. Allways get your alignment checked after a t-bar crank. I had the alignment shop crank the bars , and ailgn it at the same time, it cost me 60.00$.
There is a small amount that can be done, safely, and still stay within' the factory specs, thus not really affecting the outstanding ride quality of your ranger....I can't beleive I just used outstanding ride quality and range in the same sentance..I am going to hell now for sure....lol. Honestly, you might try asking a local 4x shop if they will do it, one where I live charges $30, took about 15 minutes at most, I did mine a couple of years ago and didn't notice any drastic change in the ride.
An inch and a half, to two inches at the most, the least amount, the better to keep that great ride that I'm sure you've grown a costume to. I'm stange, I like a stiff riding truck, I'm an offroader, and I like to bounce. Thats one of the things I like about a ranger, it rides, and feels like a truck(just in mini size)!!!
