I just rebuilt the autolite 4300 carb for my truck, everything is on correctly, tightened properly, and adjusted where it's supposed to be, she fires right up but gas darn near pours out of the top gasket! All the top screws are as tight as I can get 'em, and still it leaks! I need the old girl operational tonight! What can I do?!
Lol, well after tearing the whole thing out of the truck again, rechecking everything and putting it back in, I still had the same problem... So out of pure aggravation I called o'reily's and got a brand spankin new edelbrock. I'll letcha know how that all turns out in a little while. Thanks for the advice folks!
Well, that's a sure fire solution but I'd still like to know what the problem was with the Autolite. I'm thinking the float was set way too high. It has two settings; maybe you did only one of them? Did you ever figure it out? That new Edelbrock sure is pretty, isn't it!

well with the new edelbrock on there it runs like a champ again, but I can't figure this darn autolite out. I checked and rechecked the floats, and they're right where the specs say they're supposed to be, I even tried setting them lower, still no luck. I can't figure this thing out. Doesn't really matter anymore, long as the new one still works, but I'm going to keep tampering with this thing and maybe I'll be able to get it eventually... thanks for all the help people!
